Resentment & more resentment.

Who hates their husbands during pregnancies ?? I’ve asked the same question to my mommy friends and all of them seems to need their husbands more than ever during pregnancies. Am I the odd ball out ?? I’ve been thinking about leaving. Take Turkey away from bad things. I didn’t even want to visit his family anymore. Just don’t want to get close to anything/anyone related to him at all.

I did some detective work and got to admit the anger started since I found out the pregnancy. “It was you who made this happened. It was you who wanted this and you know I don’t. You set this trap on me. It was you who messed up with my life. You have the chance to seek a career while I will be home with diapers and milk bottles. You won’t be of any help cos your EQ is so low as usual. You can never take care of anything. You mess up my body. You show no consideration for me at all. You are still as sarcastic as before. You are not supportive. You never find out enough about pregnancy but get the misformation from hearsays. I can only have fries/junks either behind your back or when you crave for it. You are happy you are finally settled down like your married friends. You care more about your child than me. You care more about your FACE. You are too proud.”

I couldn’t stand the smell and the sight of my own husband. His work performance is not up to expectation. Just turn me off. People who said I should cherish a good guy didn’t know any better. You are not being helpful and constructive. You are just trying to show off how wonderful your life is and that you know what contentment is. GO AWAY.

I hate being emotionally ugly.

Gym Ball (aka Birth ball…)

I can’t sit through 15minutes and did everything i can to reduce this shortfall. Apart from the stretchings that I’ve learnt during yoga, elevate my legs, support my back etc etc… I still can’t sit through 15min. And I’ve recently endured 5 days of intense pain on my right lower back. That made sitting and lying unbearable sometimes. Good news is my kidney and liver are fine… KKH suspected that the expanding uterus has probably pressed on some nerves there, a case of unluckiness.

My first encounter of a gym ball was eons ago in a fitness store when gym balls used to be a hot stuff then. Then I tried it again at JM’s place and fell in love with it. I have been getting backaches since first trimester and it only got worst. While Yoga is some kind of physiotherapy that focuses on breathing and posture techniques, it only provides temporary relief for the spines (or aching backs), it is never complete….

So I’ve been contemplating about getting the gym ball. But I know there will be a lot of disapproval… Will it be safe to use during pregnancy? Does it really works? It is common in the West, also known as birth ball. Even more common if you are open to the power of yoga…

I wish I had gotten it sooner when OMY and YC bought one for me yesterday. What a pleasant surprise… and a very, very thoughtful gift… While i was happily rolling on it, exercising my pelvic area, my mum rolled her eyes and doubt a simple, bouncy rubber ball.

Now that I am carrying extra weight, it did helps to reduce the backaches and provides some relief. Now I can watch my movies, animes, books, feed my fishes while doing some simple exercises. It is safe if user follows the safety precautions. Glad I have it, thank you OMY and YC !!!

Art of Swaddle

Had a great ME time sorting out my room yesterday. It was Singapore 47th National Day, a public holiday for all. Wheee ~~~

It is time to allocate baby space and a few things have to go… and tonight I will be giving away my beloved Altec Lansing 251 5.1 speakers to someone whom I know will appreciate it like I do. Feeling a little sad to part with this decent speakers that has been wth me for 7 good years. Fully utilised for gaming, movies, and listening to Joe Hisaishi.

Guess I can start planning for an upgrade to smaller B&W speakers…. heh heh heh………….

Pictures later when I have finalize my room setup.

And then I unpacked loads of baby stuff kindly given by friends and relatives. Most of them were useful and my favorite are the swaddle and baby wraps since I have intention to swaddle Turkey for the first few weeks… At first I didn’t realise those were meant for wrapping babies until I tested it out on one of the Jolly Sheeps…. a good gauge to a life-size newborn with diaper on :

This wrap was given by JM ! Very easy to put on coz Jolly is not moving… it has velcros and very, very fuss-free. I reckon its good to wrap your baby before washing the head/hair….

And the swaddle wrap given by JC in cherry colors, I love :

I realised I have to brush up my swaddling techniques….

This Christmas 2012…

It’s time to officially announce that I am going to be a parent this December. At 22 weeks pregnant, I am having mixed feelings about being a mother. You see, I was never good with kids. I refer to my parents’ testimonials about this daughter of theirs – that I was strict, “a little” fierce, and has very low treshold for nonsense. My husband wholeheartedly agreed and suspects I could be the next Tiger Mum.

Some time ago, a few friends were discussing about the toys I would give to my child. I made it clear that I would be very strict with what I will allow. There are many ways of parenting, I’m sure I will have mine. I may not be the best in everybodys’ eyes, but I want to give my best by nurturing the right basis. I am in no way of depriving my child of his/her childhood just because I will not introduce television, iPad, and other whatnots until I deem ready…… also trouble is, “hurting” your child such as a mild spank on the palm is gradually no longer a norm…. yea, yea. Time has changed indeed and the saying “spare the rod and spoil the kid” is losing its popularity. But when discipline is required, it has to be done. I have not read any parenting books yet. But someone who was once exactly in the same dilemma told me, “Nobody knows your child better than you do. Fret not. Parenting is practising love too..” I believe her coz she and her hubby brought up their 2 kids fine, just the kind of kids I like.

To end this on a positive note, presenting you my Turkey (at 20weeks). Here’s how it is cooking inside…..

13cm from head to buttock, legs folded. see the “face” on the right ? ultrasound scan surely produces a rather ghostly image of a skull…. and the little arms/hands floating on the middle left…  I asked the sonographer not to reveal the gender coz we want surprise !!!

Expect More In This Year of the Dragon…

So I got married and we are expecting our first child this December. Honestly, this sudden change of new phase in my life is giving jitters. I can only do my best. The preparation for the arrival of a newborn is more crucial than our own wedding…  we realise we need so much more as we go along the list…. it’s good to have the father more excited and enthusiatic than the mom. Hence preparation starts now !

Precious ME Time…..

I have been so busy. Sometimes I lost track of the things I do and even forget I gotta eat…. worse of all, having troubles sleeping because so much to think about…. What happen to the things i used to love to do when I need to breakout. As you aged, the surroundings change and so do you.

This is my first post of 2012. To my precious deceased friend Stephen, you are not forgotten. I’ve always think about our night cycling adventures to and fro, from AMK to East Coast. I have a lot to thank you for… and cycling without you makes a lot of differences. Also my lil’ brother, jiejie misses you like crazy. How come you are not visiting me in my dreams anymore? I figured you are already at a better place and properly taken care of.

Family wise, absolutely hate it. Most dysfunctional and nothing’s right.

Year 2011 was hectic but a very fruitful year. I had witnessed a number of blissful union of marriages. As for myself I don’t see that coming too soon…. the most common question I’ve been asked. Booooo~~~ Then I finally got myself a secondhand DSLR at a unbelievable deal, something which I has been considering for a long long time. Micro 4/3 or bulky DSLR =(

Also completed the one-year Capstone Project (YAY) and finally resumed Japanese Language lessons. I am saving so hard to visit Japan now…

Best of all, I met so many wonderful colleagues. Imagine the fear when an I.T. person switches to healthcare industry. I never thought I will last 2 years here… its the people who make this experience goodness and bearable. LOVE them so much… I hope to adapt as well when I finally graduate and start all over in a new working environment. The old saying to myself, “do good and it will come back to you.”

Mention about coming back, guess what ! I have been reconnecting with NICI plush products after 7 years losing touch with the brand. NICI is from Germany and they design really cute animal plushs! My first NICI love was Hampy Porkland and if I do recall, NICI’s plushs were pretty expensive those days. And NICI seems to have all my favorite animals – pigs and sheeps. Last year by sheer chance I found out about the Jolly sheep series. My, my, I cannot resist! Just look at their killer smiles…..

The Jolly Sheeps gathered to congrat “Just Married” couple. New series launched only this year. Hear say that it is selling like crazy !

Hampy Porkland was missing coz he needs to guard the car 😉

“Just Married” made me gaga~~~~~

And here’s my favourite photo of Jolly Blue taken with my new camera. Setting was in Royale Bintang Hotel, Jolly Blue gazing at “Diamond in the Sky” – the magnificent Menara Tower…

Bidding Farewell to 2011.

Year 2011 has been fruitful and full of heart-warming events. Attended a number of ROMs (Registration of Marriage), babies boom (and blue), Auntie May returns to Singapore, looking forward to end of university life, looking forward to leave my healthcare job, made some new friends, resuming Japanese language class, etc.

My best of all – a secondhand EOS 550D body paired with Tamron A16. Thank you Dr. Chung and Yuchun.

Never forget my first PNS Canon A70 that got me intrigued into photography. It begins in 2005. A70 was good enough to teach myself the concepts on exposure, aperture, ISO, and white balance. It was meant to take pictures of my toy collection. Then I got a little more serious and bought Casio’s EX-P505 – a semi-DSLR. Love the swivel LCD; it’s macro capability. All goodness of it can be found in my Flickr page. =)

Then there is Canon G10, super love this one which drago and I still use till this day. Took a lot of beautiful pictures during our travels. Superb colors and all.

-rub hands-

As for EOS 550D…. MY GOD !!! I finally got meself a DSLR after so long !!!! SHYET!!

From PEN PL1 to PL3, I have been thinking about it for a long time. Micro 4/3 or a hefty-sized DSLR for a girl my size. Finally decided to go DSLR because of the wide selection of lenses available to Canon, and yea… lenses are crucial for beautiful pictures. In the long run, recording good standard videos will be beneficial…

So I brought my new baby to Malaysia for some test shots. ^.^

Saturday Night Fever Grand Finale 2011 at Sepang (not too familiar with the models, would be helpful if you can identify and leave in comments. =D)

Tried the panning technique, failed terribly at first due to the settings in dim environment. Managed to set it eventually. Phew.

some teaser pictures first 😉

Then on 10 December 2011 where a total lunar eclipse is supposed to take place. Atlas we did not get the best view at Sepang =((((

Back to the city, we stayed at Royale Bintang Hotel, Sky Hotel (at Selayang) and Ancasa Hotel.

As usual, brought one of the Jolly with me. 😉

Jolly Blue gazing at Menara KL Tower…

Didn’t do any shopping at Bintang Walk area and we only wandered around aimlessly… so we hopped to Sky Hotel the next day at Selayang area where Batu Caves is very nearby. After a sumptuous breakfast, we arrived Batu Caves and registered for the tour. No flash is allowed and torches are provided for everyone. Rule to follow is we should not point the lights upward to stir the bats from their slumber..

Thereuopoda, a long-legged centipede. the only fauna in the cave i managed to capture.

Beautiful shot of a rooster captured by drago.

Also went to KLCC Aquaria. Parking was a major hassle. Lesson learnt – go there by monorail if you need to travel around KL city.

What we saw is only 30% of the original size of wild sharks.

A school of ugly piranha. we stayed to witness how piranha snap up meat.

RM35 for malaysian citizens is a little expensive when there is nothing much at Aquaria. Was hoping to see more aquarium stuff instead of little live galleries of water faunas such as tadpole, snakes or frogs. It was a little disappointing nonetheless…
